For all patients booked for their second coved vaccinations at Balham Health Centre from Tuesday 2nd to Saturday 9th January 2021, your appointment will go ahead as planned.

This practice has a total of 9,300 patients, the majority from Wandsworth and some from Lambeth.

Services on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th January between 8am-8pm

We have put on extra services over this weekend if you need urgent medical help that is not a life-threatening 999 emergency. This is to help local hospitals and the ambulance service as they are extremely busy at the moment.

To access these services please phone 0333 332 4363 where you will be assessed by a clinician and offered an appointment if clinically required. This may be a video appointment or a face to face appointment.

Outside of these hours please call 111.

Key information for patients about the coronavirus vaccine

The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine is safe and effective. It gives you the best protection against coronavirus.

We will let you know when it's your turn to have the vaccine. It's important not to contact the NHS for a vaccination before then. Please wait to be contacted.

At this time, the vaccine is being offered in some hospitals to:

  • some people aged 80 and over who already have a hospital appointment in the next few weeks
  • people who work in care homes
  • health care workers at high risk


The vaccine will be offered more widely, and at other locations, as soon as possible.

The order in which people will be offered the vaccine is based on advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

Meanwhile, we must all continue to adhere to stick to the local tier restriction rules and remember hands, face, space.

If you are over 65 please make an appointment to get a flu jab.

Please note that people in the 50-64-year old age group will not be vaccinated until November and December, providing there is sufficient vaccine, and no appointments will be offered for this age group until then. This is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first.  If you are 50-64 and you are in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from the flu, you will be invited earlier.

When all doctors are on duty, there is now a broader range of appointment times, with a 2pm to 4pm clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

There are children's clinics (0-16 years) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

There are no walk-in emergency clinics. In it's place we have more bookable appointments in the evening and a small number of appointments are released at 8am.

The surgery doors are closed but we are open. 

Please do not book a GP appointment or attend surgery if you have symptoms associated with coronavirus including a new continuous cough and a high temperature. You are advised to stay at home for 7 days.

If your symptoms are serious, or get worse, NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need further medical help and advise you what to do.

Only call 111 direct if you cannot go online, or are advised to do so by the online service.

The practice now has limited access to the premises. If you have an appointment, the clinician will call you on the phone. If they need to see you, then you will be able to come to the surgery. All appointments at the moment are telephone consultations. If you are booked into the baby clinic or antenatal or postnatal clinic, you will be seen by the doctor. You can also come to pick up a prescription/letter, etc, please ring doorbell for access.

Practice policy on test results - our policy is to telephone patients when test results are abnormal. If they are normal you will not be contacted unless further tests or management is necessary. Please preserve telephone appointments for those who need them most, by not telephoning to request test results or call backs for these. You are welcome to have copies of test results printed via reception, when it becomes safe to come in to request these after the crisis has passed. For patients that have online access, you can access them electronically.

If your child is unwell and you need advice from the practice then please contact us as you usually would.  Please do not delay contacting your practice and seeking advice if you and your child need it. During the COVID19 pandemic, don’t come to the practice – contact us first.

Online Services

We offer on line access for booking GP appointments, ordering prescriptions and viewing your medication and allergies. Please note that you can only book GP appointments, you will need to ring reception to book nurse appointments as there are different time slots needed for different procedures. This service is only available for patients over 16 years. For children upto the age of 12 years, parents can do this on their behalf, but once they reach this age, access is de-activated and it is up to the clinician to decide whether the child is Fraser competant or whether the family can continue until the child reaches 16. Please ask reception for details. Patients need to come to the surgery to register for on-line access, bringing a photo ID and proof of residence dated within the last 3 months.
